Winter is here to stay for the next few months and you know what that means – nasty germs are breeding everywhere. We’re smack dab in the middle of cold and flu season and you’ll be lucky if you don’t get hit with a bug! The great news though is that you can be PROactive instead of REactive to illnesses going around with the Sickweather app.
The Sickweather app is free to download and is available for iOs and Android. Using the power of social media, the Sickweather app gathers information and detects sicknesses in your area in real time. “Sick Zone” alerts even let you know if you’re walking into an area where someone has recently reported being sick. This way you can wash your hands more, use hand sanitizer and just watch out for what you touch! You can even be prepared to bust out your face mask to protect yourself even further. You’ll also know to be on the lookout for signs and symptoms of illness in your children and other family members.
For instance, today’s forecast in my town shows that the common cold, pink eye and the flu are going around. I now know to be on the lookout for these things and be proactive when we’re out and about. I swear, if my kids bring pink eye home from school, I’ll lose it!
I can also anonymously report any illnesses that my family suffers and view maps by specific illnesses, as well as see which direction they’re moving on a national level for the last 5 days. I can then share these forecasts and symptoms on social media so that my friends and neighbors know to be on the lookout too.
The Sickweather app comes complete with a “My Reports” tab too so you can keep track of your family’s health and know at a glance what bugs you got and when.
I’m a big baby when it comes to getting sick and sometimes I literally feel like I’m dying when I do catch a nasty flu, so I set up alerts right away, so that I know when something nasty is coming my way. I think this app is such a useful tool and I’m going to suggest the administration at my boys schools start using it too!
