I love a good mystery along with a great sense of humor. Kitty absolutely has that. The book is written in a different style than I am used to. It’s more how the teenagers talk, text and tweet today. I found the style to be amusing and refreshing once I got used to it.
The story line is great and I loved each character that I encountered along the way. I felt like many of them could be people I knew or had met at some point in my life. What I really liked was the rustic-ness and beauty of the various locations throughout the story. I could somehow see them in my minds eye and each one was beautiful.
Kitty comes from the northern Canadian town of Tofino where they don’t have a Walmart or a Starbucks and they don’t ever plan on getting either one. References are often made of these two establishments as well as others, throughout the book and it made me giggle just a little bit.
As you can see from my opening photo, I took a picture of my book on top of an old trunk that I have and love. I get lots of compliments on it whenever my friends come over and see it. They see the same beauty in it that I see even though it’s very old and worn. It reminded me of the settings in this book and seemed very appropriate, rustic elegance. Where the old meets the new and work together in perfect harmony.
