I love crafting with my girls. Here are a few easy Spooky Preschool Crafts for Halloween that anyone can do. My four-year-old had a blast creating these projects. I have included all the materials you will need to complete all three projects.
Materials:
- Construction paper
- Toilet paper roll
- Glue
- Nearly empty glue container
- Chalk pastels
- Hair spray or fixative
- Empty egg carton
- Paper bag
- Scissors
- Paint brushes
- Acrylic paint: light green, black, white, and red
Web of Color
First you will need to draw your web in glue (adult or older child). Let it dry. I used a fan so that we could color the same day, otherwise you will have to wait until the next day. Discuss what a pattern is and begin coloring with your chalk pastels once colors are selected. Once your child finishes coloring have them go back and blend their colors. Blending will get rid of all those finger prints. If that still does not get rid of all the smudges color and blend again. Make sure your spray your web so that the chalk does not rub off on everything. To create the spider you will need to cut out a single egg from an egg carton (adult or older child). Have your child paint it black. Now put some black paint into your nearly empty glue container and mix. Now all you have to do is glue your spider body onto your web, and draw the legs with your black glue. The glue will make your legs thicker. If your mixture is not turning black add a little water.
Little Green Monster
I don’t know about your children, but mine love Monster University. My daughter wanted to make a puppet so naturally I thought of Mike Wazowski as my model. Begin by painting the bag green. Use a fan to dry it if you want to complete it in one day. While you are waiting for the bag to dry cut out one egg from the carton. Paint it white and the pupil black. Once your bag is dry paint the inside of your mouth red. While you are waiting for your mouth to dry begin working on your arms and legs. Don’t forget to draw your teeth with a white chalk pastel. Now you will need to turn your green construction paper horizontal, and cut four ?” to 1″ thick limbs. Fold them like fans about 1″ thick. Trace your child’s hands and feet to make this puppet more unique. Now glue all the parts on.
Batty for You
I have tons of toilet paper rolls that I need to find use for. It thought that a bat would be perfect for Halloween. Start by bending the top of the toilet paper roll in so that it makes two bat ears. Leave the other end open until your child finishes painting it black. Once it drys you can fold the bottom in too. If you have googly eyes use them if not do as I did and paint. For the bat wings I traced my daughter’s hands again just to add a unique touch to our creation. Glue on your bat wings and you are finished.
