As most of my friends could tell you, I am not an outdoorsy type of person. There’s just something about having the comforts of home that makes me want to avoid being outside – that and, of course, the bugs. Simple things like having a fresh, cold beverage is just something I like to have available to me. With Pat’s Backcountry Beverages, should I ever choose to brave the outdoors, I can have my own carbonated sodas and beers ready to be made without having to be wasteful.
I love the idea of being able to make my own beverages. Hubby drinks A LOT of soda and I always worry that he’s basically preserving himself with all of the chemicals. Pat’s Beverages are all natural, contain no preservatives, and even have vitamins in them. While you can use a SodaStream with Pat’s concentrates, I was beyond excited to make the sodas in their Carbonator.
Since we love root beer we went for that flavor first. Using the Carbonator is so simple to do. It comes with instructions inside, but their website has a great video as well. To begin, you have to fill the carbonator with some water and essentially prime it. Once that’s done you can add the water (no more than 16oz – there’s a mark on the bottle) and the soda concentrate. Tip: Cold water hold the carbonation better.
Once you add the soda and water, you get to add the packet of activator to the the little blue reaction cup. Once you added it and primed the bottle, you’re ready to shake, shake, shake.
Be sure to only shake it from side-to-side, not up and down. The longer you shake it, the fizzier it will be. After shaking you should let it settle for a minute or so, but not longer than 10 or it starts to lose some of the carbonation.
It was honestly so cool to make my own soda. The Hubby thinks this is the coolest thing ever and wants to go camping so he can use it in the outdoors. Pat’s also sells beer concentrates so you can make those in the carbonator as well. How awesome would it be to make your own beer in this? I know I’ll definitely be picking up some of those beer concentrates for my husband to try out.
Since this is made with all natural ingredients, I finally let me son have a sip of soda and he loved it. The carbonator works great and creates a lot of fizz and the sodas all have a great flavor. I can’t wait to show my friends how this works and watch them make their own drinks.
