I love to decorate my home. When we first got the house 3 years ago, so many ideas ran through my head for certain spaces, but I just couldn’t put them to work until we were done with the remodel. While we are still no where close to finished with the projects, the house is coming along nicely and I’ve finally been able to start decorating in the office/den. It’s been a bit tricky though because the room has a rustic feel and we’re going with animal and nature themes. Of course this was mostly hubby’s idea, but I figured as long as I have a say in the pieces that go into the decor, I might as well let these boys have their wildlife room!
When I heard about Art.com, I spent a good hour looking through their website, just loving so many of the gorgeous pieces of art I came across. In the end, I absolutely fell in love with the Night and Day print on Canvas. I just knew it would look perfect above our faux fireplace. Now hubby had other ideas for what might go above that fireplace so it took quite a bit of encouragement to get him to see my vision, but once it arrived, he knew just why I chose that piece. It was perfect; so perfect that I had to snap a shot for Instagram!
The print sat on top of the mantle for a few weeks while I waited for The Man to finish up the trim on the left window, but I’m sort of glad that he’s such a procrastinator and I’ll tell you why. We have this deer statue from one of those high end mail order collectible places and we had that sitting on the right side of the mantle. Well once it got dark and the light on the opposite wall was turned on, you could see the buck’s rack and it appeared to be walking through the woods. So when it came time to hang this print, I wanted to keep it nice and low so that effect was still present. Then once I moved the buck to the middle (because I always just have to play around with things), the shadow was even more prominent and it’s then that I knew the two pieces belonged together!
Our canvas print is just gorgeous and really fills the space. It’s size is very large at 40×20 and it a perfect fit above the mantle. The canvas itself is quite thick and came equipped with a sturdy wire and bracket for hanging. It actually made it quite nice because this is one of the only pictures that I could actually hang myself, without any assistance.
The Art.com overall website is so easy to navigate. I was able to shop by category, subject or keyword and they also have an area for design inspiration. Another things that I love about the site is that I could shop for specific rooms too if I want, like kitchen or bedroom.
