~I received a Lifetime Leather Travel Bag for the purpose of reviewing. Opinions and stories are my own.~
Last month I had shared some of my favorite items for Father’s from Duluth Trading Co. I’m really excited to share with you this month one of my favorite items that I absolutely swear by, the Lifetime Leather Travel Bag! Before I get into how this bag saved me, let me tell you a bit about how incredible it is.
This beautiful leather bag is designed to go with you everywhere. It’s smaller than a laptop bag, but bigger than your average purse. It has multiple pockets, along with a middle compartment for your Tablet, iPad, or eReader with a padded neoprene sleeve. The Gussetted zip-front organizer also has places for your pens, cellphone and more! It’s designed to carry a lot and with the padded shoulder strap, it keeps things comfortable.
Made of 100% full-grain, oiled cowhide Lifetime Leather with 100% cotton poplin lining, the Lifetime Leather Travel Bag is designed to get better with age and develops a rich patina with use. As with all women’s Duluth products, they’ve been thoroughly tested and approved by women!
Now let me tell you a story about me and my bag. One day my husband, my Tot and I were going to go hiking and artifact hunting at a park that used to be old Sioux Indian land. I decided I would take the Lifetime Leather bag because it looked like it could handle the terrain and I needed something to hold items we’d found and things I had brought.
One of which was my cellphone.
We first started off hiking and it was nice having a bag where I could tuck in the map and my son’s cup into the sleeve. It isn’t designed for cup holding, but it worked and we had a great time hiking down various paths although we weren’t exactly wearing hiking attire.
Then we decided we would head off walking the creek. I didn’t have galoshes of my own, so I wore my husbands which were a little too big. Everything was going pretty great until we had come to a tricky spot where it was deep with a decent amount of mud under the water. Since the boys had made it through okay, I assumed I would too. The bigger boots proved me wrong, though, and after the first step I went straight into the deep end. Not once, but three times I fell completely submerged in the water up to my waist – bag and all!
After figuring out how to get unstuck and to the other side, all I could think about was how my phone was going to be trashed. All my photos, my blog work, my contacts went under the water with me. It took me a little while to get the courage to unzip the bag and look inside and to my complete amazement the entire inside of the bag was DRY.
I was able to laugh off being sucked into the mud and flopping like a fish out of water for the rest of the day. Tot especially found the whole event amusing. I won’t say that the Lifetime Leather Travel Bag is waterproof and I wouldn’t test it out by keeping it under water for any long period of time, but I do know that when you are out traveling or hiking in the woods it can be a life-saver.
Just make sure you are wearing the right footwear.
