~I am a SwimWays Ambassador and received products to facilitate this review. Opinions and stories are my own.~
I remember when my husband and I first tried to teach Tot how to swim. He was three at the time and had held on to me for dear life with little arms and legs wrapped as far around as he could. We ended swimming lessons early that year because he had such a hard time. The following summers passed and although he loved water, we couldn’t get him to actually go in the water without one of us holding on to him. This year has been different and it has solely been because of SwimWays.
We were curious as to whether he would actually get in the water this year since last year he had spent the majority of the time at the parks in the splash area. I’d written a previous post, Getting Ready For Summer Swimming, that had highlighted the Swim Vest and he kept telling us, “Now I can swim!”, because he had his vest. Sure enough, the first thing he had done was go straight into the water!
Of course it was the low area where his feet could touch, but the fact that he went in at all and practiced was a miracle. It offered him the confidence and security he needed to go into the water and allowed my husband and I to begin teaching him the basic lessons.
There are a lot of items to help boost up summer fun at SwimWays. We were given a Squidivers trio pack for pool games. Tot’s still figuring out how to get his bearings, but he has a lot of fun playing in shallow water with them where he doesn’t have to submerge. So if your child is still a little young or timid about going underwater, it doesn’t mean they can’t have a lot of fun with pool toys. There are a lot of fun games on the Squidivers page that you can modify for your children!
The Squidivers, or other SwimWays Dive Toys and Sticks, are also a great way to teach your child confidence in the water. Having fun and playing games is one way to help your child get over their anxiety.
It’s been so wonderful to see Tot so happy in the water. I grew up near the ocean and have so many fond memories of floating on the waves and playing games in the water with my siblings. It is something I’d always wanted for him. SwimWays products have been so important to us this year and a blessing for our family.
Soon I’ll be sharing a SwimWays products for parents, the SwimWays Spring Float! You will also get to enter to win your own. After all, kids shouldn’t get to have all the fun!
