My kids are almost always hungry when they get off the school bus. I’ve joked with them often “Don’t they feed you at school?”; but I know they do get fed because I watch them pack their lunches each evening before bedtime. They’re growing boys though and there are quite a few hours in between the time that they eat lunch, then get off the bus. That’s why I like to make sure that I have quick snacks on hand for them when they get home.
They’re 12 and 14 now, so they know how to cook which is awesome. When we go grocery shopping, I’ll let them pick out a few of their favorites for the week. Most always, we end up in the freezer aisle at Walmart, grabbing things like Bagel Bites and Delimex Taquitos.
Some days, when I have time and am not working when they get home, I’ll set up little buffets for them. They’re still out of school for the summer, but they did do some work for a neighbor last week, so I made them a nice little treat to come home to. I set up a buffet of Bagel Bites and Delimex Taquitos with all of the fixings. We had cheese, bacon bits and olives to add to the Bagel Bites as extra toppings. Then I set out salsa, guacamole and sour cream for the Delimex Taquitos.
It was like a meal in itself and the boys were certainly pleased. Lil Man couldn’t wait to dig in and was very excited to add his own toppings. He’s my little chef, so anything that involves food and doing something with it on his own excites him.
It’s kind of cute too – because he sees me trying to style food sometimes, he likes to style his food as well. He thought it would be fun to make a smiley face on his plate out of the Bagel Bites and Delimex Taquitos!
Then he added guacamole, salsa and sour cream to his plate; so that he could decide which was his favorite. Guacamole won hands down, but he liked the other two as well.
I remember eating Bagel Bites when I was younger and I loved them even back then. They’re made with real cheese and homemade sauce with 0g trans fat. Now that’s something that I can feel good about serving to my kids!
There are many ways to eat Bagel Bites. You can load them up with extras like we do, or you can incorporate them into your favorite recipe. You can find some pretty tasty looking Bagel Bites recipes on their website! And, for those of you who love to save, you can print a coupon for 50 cents off Bagel Bites and $1.00 off Delimex.
So now, my question for you – How would you serve Bagel Bites and what would you dip your Delimex Taquitos in?
