It’s summertime and Luau themed parties are all the rage. We’ve hosted and attended many Luaus over the years and I just love the fun environment of them! So when thinking about my brother’s graduation party, I knew just the theme that I wanted to do – LUAU! I had a lot of luau party ideas and thought Celebrate Express would be the perfect go to place for supplies, and boy was I right! They have everything you could possibly need to throw the best Luau ever!
Now, my brother’s party isn’t until August, but I’m a planner and I like to have everything just right. So a couple of weeks ago, we did a little practice run on the table set up and some fun Luau themes treats.
Setting up a Luau is a lot of fun and there are so many different things that you can do. We’ll have a lei for each of the guests when they arrive and all of the tables will be set with grass skirts and fun Luau themed dinnerware for the foods and treats.
Use a fun cooler like this awesome Inflatable Tiki Cooler to hold the beverages so that guests can cool off with an ice cold drink. This cooler can hold 24 cans plus ice.
Spread napkins out to put under plates for a decorative accent, then arrange little Hibiscus flowers around the table for a decorative touch. If you’re feeling really ambitious, cut some little cards out of bright colored card stock and write fun names for the treats. Once we do the party, I’ll get more creative and find a coordinating card stock to glue the labels to for the layered effect.
It’s easy to turn ordinary things into perfect Luau treats. Take some Swedish Fish and Peach Gummy Rings and give them fun names like “Mahi Mahi” and “Life Preservers”. Kids and adults will get a kick out of this!
Grab yourself a Flip Flop Plastic Tray and mix some pretzels and Goldfish crackers together for a Fish ‘n Rods treat.
Get some Palm Tree shaped cups for special guests or perhaps for the kids so spills are less likely. You can also make these super cute Flip Flop Cookies that are sure to be a crowd favorite!
Every party needs some fruit, so why not make some art with your fruit. You can make a palm tree with kiwi, bananas and oranges – how fun and festive!
i hope you’ve enjoyed my party ideas! I’m sure I’ll have lots more great ideas by the time we host our Luau in August, so I’ll be sure to share them with you sometime afterward!
