~I received the products used within the recipes for review. The recipes, opinions and stories are my own. Have a wonderful Father’s Day!~
Instead of taking Dad out to dinner for Father’s Day, why not create a special meal just for him? Here’s two of my favorite recipes using Nar Gourmet products. Their items have become wonderful essentials in my kitchen and after you try them you’ll see why I won’t use anyone else.
This steak recipe creates steaks of restaurant quality. Make sure to adjust the minutes of the baking time at the end for how Dad likes it!
What you Need:
- Nar Gourmet Garlic Flavored Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Choice of Steak (Ribeye, T-Bone, Porterhouse, New York Strip)
- Season Salt
- Black Pepper
Pre-heat your oven to 400′ and put a skillet on your burner on high. While these are heating, season the steaks with season salt and black pepper and then coat them lightly in the garlic olive oil.
This has to be done quickly and one steak at a time. Once the skillet is hot, put the steak on the skillet and let it cook for 5 minutes on each side or until it is blackened on the edges. Then place on a cookie sheet and slide into the oven for 10 minutes. If you are doing more than one steak, after the steak is done in the skillet then place it on the cookie sheet until they’re all ready.
Cook for 10 minutes in the oven or until the steak is as rare / well done as you would like it!
No great dinner comes without the perfect dessert and this Sour Cherry & Apple Crisp is amazing. Dad won’t soon forget this tangy sweet treat!
What You Need:
- Nar Gourmet Sour Cherry Jam
- 3 Large Apples (peeled and sliced)
- 4 tbsp of Butter (melted)
- Concord Foods Apple Crisp Mix
Toss out the directions on the box of apple crisp and follow these. Preheat the oven to 375′. Now you need two bowls. In one bowl add the apples and 1/2 the jar of Sour Cherry Jam, mix together. In the other add the mix and the butter and mix together.
Take 1/2 the crisp mix and mix it into the apple/cherry mixture. Then pour the mixture into a small cake pan. Top it off with the other 1/2 of the crisp mix.
Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes or until the top crisp is well… crisp! Take it out and let it sit until the juice thickens, or add it to a plate piping hot with some vanilla ice cream! I suggest drizzling some of the Sour Cherry Jam juice over the ice cream for a nice touch!
NAR stands for natural and regional. Made in the rich Anatolian soil, Nar Gourmet’s purpose is to introduce and promote the Turkish culture and its traditional specialty tastes. I was surprised to read how their Sour Cherry Jam is a specialty in Turkey and almost impossible to find in the U.S., so of course I had to try it! I was absolutely blown away. Their jams are like nothing I’ve ever had and are rich in natural flavors with pieces of whole fruit inside!
The winner of my kitchen is the Nar Gourmet Garlic Flavored Extra Virgin Olive Oil. I use it with almost everything! The taste is so pure and it works like golden magic. I don’t think my kitchen can ever live without it again!
Nar Gourmet has many other products, including other infused olive oils, unique jams, vinegar’s and organic herbs. If you have a foodie Dad you can even pick out specialty items and create your own gift basket!
I hope you have a wonderful Father’s Day this coming weekend! Happy cooking!
