I love having new and different stories to read to Nugget before bed. There’s something to be said about a book with it’s own characters instead of ones you see on TV that really help to inspire one’s imagination. The unique and fun book, The Blue Baboon in the Big Balloon, is a creative rhyming story that is funny and truly enjoyable to read.
In The Blue Baboon in the Big Balloon, Harold and his brother Gerald drink tea by the sea everyday at 3:30. They go on a flight in the big balloon to the moon with their green cat Matt, a family of mice, an orange mite, and a troll named Dwight. There they meet two raccoons, Holly and Molly, and a panda named Miranda and they have their own adventure.
Authors Sarah and Steven Mostyn are from Canada and recently moved to Texas with their three children. They like to sit together as a family and come up with funny stories and ideas for books. This is their first self-published children’s book and I’m sure will be the first of many great family-inspired stories they will tell.
Nugget really enjoyed this book. He loved all of the rhyming and thought the pictures were really funny. He pointed out all of the different animals and was enthralled by the idea of going to the moon on a balloon. I know this book really sparked his imagination and I look forward to this being a new bedtime favorite.
