We are an animal loving family. How could we not be with the zoo we’ve got going on here?! One of my main concerns is always pet safety because I’m not sure what we’d do if anything ever happened to one of our furry little friends. They’re a huge part of our family and we love them to pieces.
That’s the reason I was really excited to work on this #NudgesMoments campaign with #CollectiveBias. I had heard that Nudges dog treats are made in the USA, contain no fillers and use meat only from America. That’s huge to me, because it lets me know that Nudges is a brand that I can trust! Of course, the dogs would love that flavors include Health and Wellness Chicken, Beef, Bacon, and Duck. Health and Wellness Chicken is a Walmart exclusive flavor and the other flavors are exclusive to Walmart in the large bag size. Nudges dog treats can be found right in the “Dog Treats” aisle, which is to the left of the Garden Center doors in my Walmart. They’re in the beginning of the aisle, right near the bottom.
I love to mix things up a bit with my pooches, so I grabbed two different flavors – Health and Wellness Chicken and Bacon. I figured the dogs would appreciate the variety!
I must say, Maxwell is something else. He’s still a pup – just over a year old, so he has a lot of energy to burn. Really, he has too much, if you ask the other dogs. They just can’t or don’t want to keep up with him most days. So there will be times that we take Max out all by himself to play, so that he can get the exercise that he needs; while not wrestling crazily with the other dogs.
I had a really busy day ahead of myself last week, so before hubby left for work, we had some playtime in the backyard. Max was so excited. This is his favorite part of the day and most days, he has to wait until I’m finished with all of my important matters later in the afternoon. We thought we’d reward him for being such a good and patient boy while mom works from home, so we grabbed some Nudges dog treats and headed to the backyard!
You see how he doesn’t want to leave his treats?! He’s not dumb, he knows what’s inside those bags!
First daddy did some tricks with him. Max is really good and learned many tricks when he was just a tiny little pup. He loves doing them and has such a blast. Of course, I’m sure he especially enjoys the treat each time!
Since we were going to be working on lots of tricks, hubby decided it would be best to rip each treat into smaller pieces. He really wants that treat – just look at him sit so pretty!
Now, Max is a really smart boy. He knows many tricks and he even has this routine. Through just hand motions or sign language, my husband will have Max do the following, all in order: sit, shake, other paw, (lay) down, roll over, up and finally speak. He is really quite good at it!
This is an inside routine, so when we tried this for the first time outside, Max got a little confused – but was still a champ in the video below.
And this is what brought on the confusion. He saw his ball. That nasty, chewed up filthy ball that he just won’t part with. The dirtier the better in his eyes. Just look at those rips and you’ll see how much he loves that ball!
He gets right up there and wants you to kick it.
But he’s too close, so you’ve got to tell him “Back up Max”. Then he’ll back up just a couple of very short feet and lay down, waiting for it.
Then he’ll go fetch it, run a few quick laps, then drop it, lay down and wait for you to pick it up again. It’s the cutest thing ever!
Once we’d finished our game of fetch, we thought he deserved another treat since he was such a good and photogenic boy during our morning fun. Just look at the mile long tongue waiting for me to give the okay!
He even takes treats, right out of my hand like such a good boy!
Max had so much fun that morning and he was so good for the rest of the day while I worked. Where he’ll usually whine and cry here and there throughout the day to go outside to play, he just laid around and found himself content playing with his inside toys for most of the day. I’ll tell you what, it made my day more productive! I told hubby we’ll have to start his days like that more often!
