Easter is upon us and nothing says Easter quite little the fluffy marshmallow Peeps. My kids love the colorful little chicks and bunnies, so I thought we’d make a fun treat together “just because”. Now that we’ve made them and they turned out so adorable and yummy, we’re definitely doing a Chocolate Peeps Pops Basket for Easter!
Chocolate Peeps Pops are very easy to make and are a fun activity to do with even smaller children. You could let them handle the sprinkles!
What you’ll need:
- Peeps Bunnies
- Long Lollipop Sticks (found in the craft aisle and/or craft stores)
- Chocolate for melting
- Sprinkles
- Wax paper
First you’ll line your counter or table with some wax paper, then pour some sprinkles out because you’ll need to do that step quickly, before the chocolate hardens. Next, melt your chocolate using whatever method you prefer. I use the microwave.
Dip a Bunny Peeps in the chocolate, about half way, then poke a lollipop stick through the bottom. Set it on the wax paper.
Next you’ll add some sprinkles. You will need to dip, sprinkle, dip, sprinkle – until you’re finished. If you try to dip a few, then sprinkle, some of the chocolate will be too hard already and the sprinkles won’t stick. The sprinkling part is perfect for little kids, so get them involved!
I thought it would be super cute to put them in a basket for Easter, so I grabbed a piece of foam, some Easter grass and a planter I had from my wedding shower.
To make this, you will need to cut your foam to size, if needed, then stick it inside the basket or planter. Next, you’ll stick the end of the Chocolate Peeps Pops stick into the foam, starting in the middle and working your way out, so as not to get one side too heavy and tip the container. Trust me, I almost did – luckily I have quick reflexes! Top it with some Easter grass and voila, instant centerpiece, decoration, or addition to an Easter buffet table!
