The most complete bug reference book for children ever is now here. National Geographic Kids now has a book full of creepy crawlers that will delight boys and girls alike! This is a huge hard back book that is full of amazing bug facts!
About Ultimate Bugopedia:
In a book CRAWLING with fascinating facts, lively text and more than 400 amazing images of the weirdest and wackiest insects from all over the globe, the natural world experts at National Geographic have compiled the ultimate resource for children ages 7-10. This fully photographic book profiles bugs, beetles, wasps, bees, ants caterpillars, butterflies, dragonflies, spiders, flies, crickets and grasshoppers, and centipedes and millipedes. Each profile is accompanied by cool Did You Know? facts and fact boxes that provide the scientific name, size, diet, and habitat of each insect. Selected as a 2014 Outstanding Science Trade Book for Students K-12 by the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) and the Children’s Book Council, this fresh, exciting and accurate title allows bug lovers to get up close and personal with these amazing creatures.
I just can’t say enough good things about the HUGE color photographs and the top quality paper their books are on. As a librarian and a mom I have to say that National Geographic Kids Books never disappoint. My daughter is now more interested in bugs than ever as we read several pages of this book every night before bed. She is rememebering what I read to her since she will bring up stuff from the night before all the time. I love it when girls have a love for science and especially in literature.
To really get you into the bug spirit National Geographic Kids is having a giveaway that not only includes the Ultimate Bugopedia but a very cool bug vac shaped like an anteater.
Using gentle suction it sucks up ants and other bugs into the clear compartment. You just remove the compartment to examine the bugs up close. Then when you are done just safely release them.
The Ultimate Bugopedia is a great book to have in the house for some fun reading. Boys would especially like it since boys typically read non-fiction over fiction and this is a topic that boys can really get into. The photos on each page are so incredibly detailed that I could just go through browsing the pictures all by myself! I find myself learning new facts on every single page but it is still written in a way for kids to understand.
