My family loves hot food. Now I’m talking serious love for all things spicy. I’m more of a mild taste kind of person, so I just don’t really get it. But they’re my family and my aim is to please them and make things they like, so I try my best.
We had a house full of hunters the weekend of Thanksgiving, so I thought that would be a perfect time to make some spicy chili. I was sure all of the guys would appreciate it, but also knew they might get some indigestion. Lucky for them, I had Rolaids on hand to handle their heartburn woes.
The Rolaids brand is back in stores and better than ever. Rolaids are available in tablet form – by the small tube pack or larger bottle. But what’s totally new is their liquid form. The liquid is a first for this brand and both varieties come in extra strength as well.
Since Lil Man dubbed himself the “Hot Stuff King” long ago, it was only fitting that he wanted to stay home with me that day and create the hottest chili ever – instead of going in the woods with the boys. He put on the Rolaids apron, his chef hat and got to work. He added all of the cans for me and even tried to decide on the amount of spice we’d put in. He wanted to make the hottest, most butt burning chili imaginable, but I couldn’t just let him do that!
We let our chili simmer for a very long while and decided to do a taste test shortly before the boys came home from the woods.
One bite and Lil Man grins excitedly that the chili is awesome! You see, the boy loves to cook and even more than that, he loves when his food turns out great! We had such a good time cooking together that day and I made him a promise that every time we make chili, we’ll do it together.
When the guys all returned from the woods, we had hot chili and fresh baked Italian Bread from the bakery ready for them. Every last one of them just loved the chili and said it had the perfect amount of kick to it. And yes, a few did reach for the Rolaids later on that night!
Ingredients:
- 3 lbs ground beef
- 3 cans chili beans
- 1 can light red chili beans
- 2 cans dark red chili beans
- 2 cans diced tomatoes with green chilies
- 1 can sliced stewed tomatoes
- 2 – 64 oz containers tomato juice
- 2 hot chili seasoning package
- 1 mild chili seasoning package
- 1 large white onion
- 6 tbsp Valentina Salsa Picante Mexican Hot Sauce – Extra Hot
Directions:
Chili is seriously one of the easiest things to make. Brown the ground beef and drain the fat. In the meantime, open all of your cans and dump them into an extra large pot. Dice your onion and add into pot, then add chili seasonings and hot sauce. Once your meat is done and drained, add that in, then pour tomato juice in. Simmer on the stove over low heat for 3-4 hours to let the full flavors come through. Eat and enjoy!
