I say it over and over again, but I’ll say it again. My house is full! With 7 people, the laundry {among countless other household duties} never ends. I’ll get the pile down a bit and then it’s right back where it was. I leave it for a day or a few, and it’s pure insanity. I can’t keep up. I swear I try, I really do. I just can’t do it. I need a laundry fairy.
Yes, I know – fairies aren’t real. A girl can dream though, can’t she? One thing that I do have control over is my laundry detergent. I don’t want to spend an arm and a leg, but I do want it to get the job done – and done right! That’s where Arm & Hammer’s Ultra Power 4X concentrated laundry detergent comes in. It contains 2 scoops of baking soda and packs a lot more clean into a small bottle with the 4X concentration.
I opened up the bottle and was impressed with how good it smelled. I don’t know why, but I really did envision it smelling like baking soda. It has a nice clean, fresh scent like other detergents I use.
With the holidays rolling around, I’ve been starting to decorate and get ready for guests. This may seem a bit weird, but I prefer to wash stuff when I bring it home from the store – even linens for the table. I just don’t know where they’ve been or who touched them, so it sort of freaks me out a bit. Am I alone in this feeling?
Anyway, so I bought a runner and some place mats last week and I wanted to make sure I washed them nice and good before I did anything with them. So I threw them in the washer along with some of my other holiday linens that have been sitting in a closet for the past year. I poured one third of a cap full of Arm & Hammer’s Ultra Power 4X concentrated laundry detergent on top and started the wash cycle. It cleaned all of my holiday linens wonderfully and they just smell delightful! I was able to set them out right away.
I mentioned that I only used 1/3 of a cap full because that’s all you need. They recommend one quarter cap full, but I always do larger loads, so I used a bit more. I love that the bottle is smaller, but still washes the same amount of loads, because I don’t have a place to store my bottles in the laundry room. They sit on the dryer or water heater instead. I swear, one day my hubby will be nice and build me a shelf!
I’ll be honest here. I’m generally not one to try new detergents for my laundry because of skin sensitivities. There are currently only 4 brands that I use. I’m happy that now I’ve added a fifth brand because Arm & Hammer’s Ultra Power 4X concentrated laundry detergent does not affect my husbands skin whatsoever. I used it on a load that I threw one of his shirts in to test it out. Nothing happened, so I tried it on another load and he’s been fine. That is a huge relief because it really stinks when you try to be frugal and buy things on sale, but you’re limited to what you can even buy!
