Even though it is now officially Fall and Winter won’t be far behind that does not mean that you can forget the sunscreen! Ultraviolet rays lead to skin damage, so sun protection is a must every day. Here in Florida it is still pool weather for several more months but up north it won’t be long before many of you are playing in the snow. You can still get UV skin damage and sunburned during the winter months and on cloudy days.
Take care of your skin now to prevent wrinkles and possibly melanoma later. I had basal cell skin cancer when I was only 19 so sunscreen is super important to me. A great choice for the winter athlete is oil-free BullFrog Sunscreen. Originally invented for surfers, BullFrog goes on clear and offers broad-spectrum sun protection in a durable water-resistant formula.
My family and I spent almost every single weekend outside all year long. Most the time it is in the pool or the lake but even when we are at the theme parks in the winter it is still super important to use sunscreen. Here is a picture of Lil Sis just last weekend. You learn to swim young in Florida. We actually had a mini-family reunion at my parent’s house where we all went swimming and spent time doing watersports behind the boat. We all used the BullFrog sunscreen that I was sent and not a single person was burned by the end of the day.

Right after learning to swim sunscreen is my next important step for getting together outside with friends and family.
Follow these sun protection tips from BullFrog:
- Limit sun exposure, particularly between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. when the sun’s harmful UV rays are the strongest and most damaging to your skin
- Use a water-resistant, broad-spectrum SPF sunscreen with a value of 30 or higher
- Liberally apply sun protection 15 minutes before sun exposure
- Reapply every hour as needed, particularly after swimming or perspiring
- Your lips need protection, too?use an SPF 15 or higher lip balm
My husband and I are huge fan of the continuous sprays. They cover every little inch of our bodies. With lotion I almost always have a spot I miss that gets lobster red. I still use lotion on my face because I don’t like the idea of spraying my face but other than that it is spray all the way for us. I have not got a chance to use the sunscreen with mosquito control yet but I hope to plan a camping trip soon as I will be using that spray the entire weekend for sure! Two in one is so convenient especially since there are so many mosquitoes here in Florida.
My girls are so use to having sunscreen slathered on them that they never complain. Don’t get me wrong they don’t like it at all but it has become a part of our routine when going outside so to them they don’t know any other way. Don’t forget to use your sunscreen even when out in the snow this winter and I will only be a tinsy bit jealous of all the fun you people get from your northern winters.
