As I’m sure you’re aware, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I’m here to spread the word and inform you about early detection. While a cure has yet to be found, early detection is the key to the best defense against breast cancer. Tell your mother, your sister, your cousins and all of your friends. Together, we can fight this!
Did you know that 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime? Given that, it’s no surprise that almost everyone I’ve talked to about breast cancer know someone who has been affected! Another scary statistic is that breast cancer is highest among Caucasian women. I haven’t quite figured out why for myself yet, but it scares me to death. Sadly, though breast cancer rates are lower for African American and Latina women, the death rates are higher. In fact, a Latina woman dies of breast cancer every hour and a half in the US!
The statistics on breast cancer are sad – I’ll be the first to admit that. But we have to look past the scary truth and band together for all of the women that we hold close to our hearts.
P&G has always been a strong supporter in the fight against breast cancer. In fact, they are such a huge contributor, that they have “pink” products on the shelves at stores across the country! You can find all sorts of brands that you love with the pink ribbon on them. Well the P&G Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign has partnered with The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) this year . Their goal is to educate not only us women, but also the men in our lives to encourage the women they love to create an early detection plan.
