materials. I have tons of baby food jars
that I just can?t seem to part with.
That’s when I came up with this great idea of Halloween Lanterns,
unfortunately I wasn?t the only one with this idea. You may have seen these images around on
Pinterest using all sorts of materials, I used acrylic paint. I love pumpkins; you can be as plain as you
like, or as funky as you like when designing their faces.
Materials:
? Baby food jar with lid
? Acrylic paint (white, orange, green)
? Paint brushes
? Sharpie (oil based is preferred)
? Images to use as a template
? Electric votives (Dollar Tree)
They
are so easy to make and my children loved creating and playing with them. My three-year-old is under the table playing
with the pumpkins in the dark as I write.
What a mess!!!! I love to involve
my kids with fun art activities and find me a kid that doesn?t like to
paint.
you need to paint the inside of your jar and the top. You may need to paint several coats to get
the look you want. Once you finish you
can draw your face of choice on each jar.
If you use an oil based Sharpie you should never have to redraw your
face again. However, if you are like me
and using what you have around the house you will be using a permanent Sharpie
marker and you will redraw the face if your children handle/play with
them. Now that you have drawn your faces
you can turn your electric votive on, place it inside your jar, and close the
lid. Take a moment and admire your work.
