Introducing Jazz For Babies: Five Magical Albums Of Gentle Acoustic Songs By World Class Musicians For Babies, Babies-To-Be & Grownups
If there were a magic spell to get babies lulled to sleep, parents everywhere would grab it, right? American-born, London-based musician and recent dad, Michael Janisch, thinks he knows the secret — acoustic music played by world-class musicians. Janisch has produced an incredible array of slow and soothing renditions of the world’s most beautiful songs as part of five remarkable albums called Jazz For Babies.
Jazz For Babies makes the PERFECT baby
shower gift or newborn present! Honestly the last thing new parents
need is more bibs and baby booties that will hardly get used. Best of
all, gift givers and parents-to-be can sample every song on the five
different 15-track albums online risk-free buying. I went through and sampled several myself before even agreeing to do this review. I wanted to make sure that I would like them and I immediately fell into a sense of calmness listening to the different tracks. I knew I had to add these to our music collection!
Big Sis is almost 5 and has never been a good sleeper. Ever since she was about 18 months old we have played soothing music for her at bedtime on the recommendation of her Occupational Therapist. She has a CD player that sits on her nightstand that she knows how to use. While it did not make her an instantly good sleeper it has in fact become a part of our bed time routine and we play it continuously at low volume all night long. If we are not home or the player stops playing suddenly in the middle of the night she always wakes up.
Jazz For Babies currently consists of five 15-track albums:
The Saxophone Album
The combination of tenor and soprano saxophones mixed with a grand piano and double bass make this a memorable album of 15 titles. Enjoy My Favorite
Things, The Nearness Of You and Love Is A Many Splendored Thing.
The Guitar Album
Nylon and steel string guitars mix effortlessly with grand piano and double bass for 15 silky songs. Tracks include Georgia On My Mind, The Very Thought Of You and Body and Soul.
The Piano Album
15 of the world’s most beautiful songs performed by world-class musicians on grand piano and double bass created for the youngest audiences. Titles range from You Are My Sunshine and God Bless The Child to Someone Like You.
The Trumpet Album
15 tunes created by trumpet, muted trumpet, grand piano and double bass make beautiful music for the very young and the mature listener. The playlist ranges from Someday My Prince Will Come to When You’re Smiling and Time After Time.
The Vibraphone Album
Slow & relaxing instrumental renditions of 15 classic songs performed by top-notch musicians on vibraphone, grand piano & double bass. Titles include Isn’t She Lovely, The More I See You and Someone To Watch Over Me.

ABOUT JAZZ FOR BABIES
Wisconsin raised and now London-based Michael Janisch created Jazz for Babies by an instinctive desire to expose his daughter to high quality baby music from the earliest age. Not being able to find such music of suitable quality, he produced it himself. Each of the albums is recorded live in an award winning London studio with further post production sound-work undertaken by four time Grammy-nominated engineer Tyler McDiarmid, a long time musical associate, friend and a proud father of three. This results in masterfully produced albums that boast a pristine sound quality like no other baby music product anywhere in the world. All albums are specifically designed and recorded so that the intricacies of the beautiful instruments sound incredibly clear — even at low volumes as parents send baby to sleep.
Oh how I wish we had all the Jazz for Baby CDs for her to use when she was little as they are some of the calmest and most soothing baby music I have ever heard (and we have gone through a lot of baby CDs over the years since we use them nightly and like to switch them up). Both Big
Sis and Lil Sis now have these CDs playing by their beds and they are
usually asleep within 5 minutes which is just short of a miracle with these two! As I write this up my baby is sleeping while listening to her Jazz for Babies.
The Vibraphone album would have to be my favorite but in reality it was hard to choose one over the others since I really liked them all. For the last few weeks I have been playing them on my computer while I blog after the girls are in bed. It puts me into a calming mood for work without the distractions of loud music with words. These will get used long after your baby is out of the “baby stage.”
