Founded in 1946, Uncle Milton creates, produces and markets proprietary and licensed toys that inspire imagination and learning while encouraging kids to explore and discover their world. The flagship Ant Farm? brand ant habitat, first introduced in 1956, is a toy industry icon that has delighted generations of families and now includes a full line of live habitat products. Since then, Uncle Milton has successfully expanded into many other innovative proprietary brands. […] Uncle Milton, a Transom Capital Group company, distributes its toy lines through a broad range of retail channels including mass merchant, specialty toy, online, hobby, gift, and department stores nationwide.
Like most preschoolers, my little guy has a love/hate relationship with the dark. Some nights, he could care less that it’s pitch black and he can’t see his little hand in front of his nose and other nights, the dark is the scariest place in the world. We’ve tried nightlights, but they all shine too bright and keep him up. Flashlights just illicit games of shadow puppets. Since we still bed share, I’m often left putting a timer on the t.v., but I was hoping to find a more kid-friendly alternative.
Uncle Milton has the perfect solution. The company has a whole line of wall lights called Wall Friends featuring some of your child’s favorite Disney characters like Doc McStuffins, Mickey Mouse, Cinderella, and our personal favorite, Jake from Jake and the Neverland Pirates!
At over 13″ tall, these wall mounted lights just need batteries and you’re good to go! Sonshine asked to have his put in his playroom, as he likes to go in there after dark, and it easily hung up on a nail we already had in the wall.
As you can see in the side by side picture, the Wall Friend not only lights up well a night (with a cool glow), but it also offers a nice hint of light right in the middle of the day! I think Sonshine’s favorite part is turning the light on. It comes with a remote that is the perfect size for small hands. Your child simply aims at the light and presses the single button, Jake’s has a big X on it, like a pirate’s map, and your character light comes to life! Our Jake light says familiar phrases like, “Yo ho! Way to go!” On a side note, I would tell your child to put the remote back in the same spot each time, like their bedside, as we’ve lost it countless times due to it’s size and Sonshine pretending it’s sword handle!
The Wall Friends also have an adjustment for how bright you’d like your child’s new friend to be. We put ours to low and it was the perfect amount of light. The light also has an auto-off and the light has never been on too long or to little. This is one of the best light’s we’ve found to help our little one combat the nighttime fear of the dark and it makes a great addition as a decoration in his playroom!
