August is Family Fun Month and although we are coming close to the end, that doesn’t mean you stop celebrating! Enjoying time together as a family is important no matter what day or month it is. One of the ways my family spends time together is through reading books, watching films and making crafts and recently I was given the opportunity to review the short film Room on a Broom. Created by NCircle and inspired by the classic picture book Room on a Broom by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, it is a story about friendship, family and teamwork!
Room on a Broom is about a witch and her cat who love flying through the sky on their broomstick. Then one day the witch drops her hat, then her bow and then her wand! Luckily, there are helpful animals that find the missing items and all they want in return is a ride on the broomstick. Eventually they run into trouble with a hungry dragon and the animals have to all work together to save their friend.
The film compliments the illustrations in the book so well. I was completely amazed and how Max Lang was able to bring to life Axel Scheffler’s art! The voice acting was done by Gillian Anderson (The X Files) who played the witch; Timothy Spall (Harry Potter) was the dragon; Simon Pegg (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) narrates the story and Martin Clunes, Rob Brydon and David Walliams portray the helpful new animal friends!
My son loved it. He thought it was so special to have them come alive on the screen while holding the storybook.
You can also enjoy lots of printables, activities and coloring pages from Room on a Broom and NCircle Entertainment to share with your children and teach them about the important of working together and sharing.
