Earlier this month the movie Disney Planes came out and we went to go see it in theaters out of our own pocket. Husband, Big Sis and I really enjoyed it and it was great to see an extension off the hit movie Cars! Of course with any big Disney release you can expect a video game to quickly follow and Disney Planes The Video Game is no exception. You get to take to the skies as the beloved crop duster Dusty from the movie and continue the storyline beyond the film. The really great thing is that this game is rated E for everybody meaning everyone in my household got to enjoy it!
The best way to get a feel for a fame is to check out the trailer which will include game play in action.
It starts out like a lot of other video games with an introduction to the storyline and game play. This was especially helpful for us since this was the very first game we have ever let Big Sis play. All of my game stills are from us playing on the Nintendo Wii version. I personally think the motion of the game was easy to pick up on and play but the actual game play objectives might be too advanced for younger players. Big Sis understood what was going on but had some problems actually getting the planes to do what she wanted and she is almost 5. I am sure this is one of those games she will only get better each time she plays. Here are some screen shots of her playing.
The first one is her flying through some rings.
This shot is with her and my Husband playing in split screen mode and working together to collect puzzle pieces in a huge field. This is an especially great mode for younger ones to get use to the controller and to understand simple objectives.
Console Game Features:
- Play as one of 10 cast characters from the film with pick up and play flight controls
- Travel through 10 environments inspired by the film
- Four modes of play: Air Rallies, Story, Free Flight and Balloon Popping
- 1-2 players
Handheld Game Features:
- Play as one of six cast of characters from the film
- Travel through six environments inspired by the film
- Over 40 challenges and missions, including racing missions
- Single Player
The graphics are average for a Wii game and the sound and color are crystal clear. Since it is based of a children’s movie the game follows suite by being perfect for younger players.
I would recommend this game for any Disney fan you may have in your household and especially fans of Disney Planes. It offers a lot of fun game play for younger players that they can enjoy this game for months to come. It must be pretty fun because as I stay up late writing this review my husband is in the living room playing the game all by himself and he is far from the gamer I am!
