I want to first and foremost mention that I am very particular about car seats and booster seats. My almost 5 year old that is used in this review rides 99 percent of the time in her 5 point harness in my car. The BubbleBum for me means use in her Daddy’s car when he takes her to school 2 miles from our house once in a blue moon and for travel. I am going to show you how this is the PERFECT booster seat for travel for older kids.
I will also link you to the carseatlady’s website and since I find them a top notch resource for everything car seat related you can read first hand her thoughts on the BubbleBum and how they are safe to use.
First the name, BubbleBum, adorable and cute to say. Accurate because your child is sitting on an inflated seat that also has memory foam thus making it one comfy booster seat to sit on like a bubble. Here is a picture of it deflated right out of the package.
Very easy to install and here it is in my husband’s two door Honda Accord.
This would be the perfect booster seat for carpooling moms since you can easily fit these 3 across which is not often the case with other booster seats.
Here is something you need to know about booster seats in comparison to child car seats. Booster seats are meant to position the seat belt properly on your child in case of an accident. With no booster seat for younger kids the lap belt often slides up to your child’s abdomen which during an accident you do not want it to squish them there.
Here is my 42 pound almost 5 year old in the BubbleBum Booster Seat.
I know it is hard to tell in the picture since she is wearing a tunic but the belt is coming across her lap and not her stomach. The shoulder strap is coming over her shoulder and not her neck. Here is another angle.
Here is a great and short video from BubbleBum showing you how to install the booster seat in just a few steps. Enjoy the man’s delightful British accent while you are at it.
Here are TheCarSeatLady’s thoughts on BubbleBum Booster Seat. Make sure to scroll to the bottom past a completely different car seat with bad reviews at the top.
This booster seat is super lightweight (less than half a pound), can easily be stored in a bag or tote for traveling and can be set up in minutes. This seat is also affordable at only $39.99 you can send one to grandma’s house, the babysitter’s house or whoever might be driving your kid around. There is no easier way to transport a booster seat when traveling than this one that deflates when not in use! I am not the only one that thinks so as they have a long list of awards they have won as well!
