Summertime for my family is all about fun. School is out, it’s hot outside and the kids just want to soak up every possible minute of fun that they can. We live in a somewhat rural area, so there aren’t any parks or other places within walking distance. Because of that, we spend a lot of time playing in our yard instead. Of course we enjoy the water quite often too since we live on a lake. We love to boat, tube and even relax on our giant 6 man raft!
I wanted to make this summer extra special for them, so we decided to have a kids only Bomb Pop Party. No grown ups were allowed – except me of course since someone had to watch the little rascals and photograph their every move! I started off with some invitations for all of their neighborhood friends.
I prepared the activities, some snacks and even some fun prize bags for the kids. We had branded Bomb Pop plush baseballs and key chains, a coupon for a free box of Bomb Pops and other candy and goodies that I had purchased. Playing games is all about prizes for kids, so I set up some pretty awesome loot bags for them!
Of course, no party is complete without food and drinks, so I set up a table to correspond with the party – in red, white and blue! I set out a cooler full of cold drinks and a tray full of a fun snack mix that I made with cheese puffs, popcorn, licorice and chocolate coated candy. The kids just devoured the snack mix! There were two for each kid and by the time the party was over, only one snack mix cup remained!
The first order of fun upon our guests’ arrival was the Slip n Slide. The kids were so excited to cool off in the water on such a hot – 90 degree – day! They were all slipping and sliding all over the place, having a blast and didn’t want the fun to end. But there were other fun things in store and the party couldn’t last all day. Reluctantly, they all came over to play a game once I mentioned prizes! I mean, who doesn’t love prizes?
Earlier I had set up the Bomb Pop Home Run Toss game that had come in our party kit. I set it up in the shade, so the kids wouldn’t be roasting in the sun. It was a scorcher out that day! The kids all gathered around with their snack mix and a drink for a fun game of tossing the bean bag.
Originally I had planned to divide the kids into two teams, but one of the kids couldn’t make it so we had an uneven number. Instead, we just played a shorter game of 4 rounds.
The kids had such a great time playing the game. The littlest one designated herself as the “Ball Retriever” and would gather all of the balls back up after each child’s turn. It was the cutest thing!
Let me just say that this game is harder than it looks! One of the older boys didn’t manage to make one single point, while the second youngest of the group was crowned the winner at the end!
Because we had such a variety of ages, from 3 all the way up to 14, I wanted to make sure that things were fair. Each child got one bag chocked full of prizes like candy water guns and other little trinkets along with the Bomb Pop goodies. The kids were so excited and loved all of their loot! I think that free package of Bomb Pops really excited them!
After the snacks, games and prizes I grabbed each of the Bomb Pop flavors out of the freezer. It was so hot, that I couldn’t leave them on the table to melt! I opened up each box and the kids all chose a flavor. Some even came back for seconds!
Lil Man is quite the comedian and just loves to make the silliest of faces every time that I take his photo. This one, I just had to share!
Next, the bigger kids started raising their Bomb Pops to cheers to a fantastic party.
The little dud wanted to get in there with the big boys, so I had to take a nice group shot too!
The kids all had an awesome time and begged me to do another before summer ends. I told them “We’ll see”!
How do you like to cool off in the summertime?
Bomb Pop has many different flavors of ice pops available and they just introduced two more this summer – New Hawaiian Punch? Bomb Pop and Sour Wower Bomb Pop! Did you know that Bomb Pop is also an official sponsor of Little League? Baseball and Softball? I think that’s so awesome! While my kids don’t personally play, some of their friends do and we really enjoy going to their games.
