~Post made possible by Parragon Publishing. I received the book titles for the purpose of reviewing. Stories and opinions are my own and not influenced by any form of compensation.~
My son and I love reading together. This whole summer has been filled with books since we’ve been doing a summer reading program for toddlers. He gets so excited when he sees a new book and spells out the title and asks me what it says. He’s trying to teach himself how to read! So I was very blessed to get the chance to review some of the titles from the new Little Learners Books from Parragon Publishing. The series includes:
- ?Touch & Feel? series features touch-and-feel panels that are designed to promote children’s sense of touch and interactive play
- ?Peek-a-Boo? series provides an interactive play format, with peek-a-boo holes to follow through each page, to support development of hand-eye coordination
- ?Slide and See? series includes interactive, slide out tabs to help children learn hand-eye coordination, first words, and knowledge about the world around them
- ?Finger Puppet? books share classic stories such as ?Old MacDonald?, ?Five Little Monkeys?, ?Mary had a Little Lamb?, ?Hickery Dickery Dock? and ?The Itsy Bitsy Spider?
One of our favorite books is a “Slide and See” called I Feel Happy. We’ve been working on my son with different emotions since he hasn’t quite grasped that there are other feelings than “happy” and “yucky”. The I Feel Happy book teaches about different feelings and what brings about those feelings. In example: the page will show one feeling:
“I feel scared when I climb too high.”
And then the pull out will give a concluding feeling or opposite feeling.
“I feel brave when I can get down by myself.”
After each page we would ask my tot what other things makes him feel that specific feeling (“What else makes you feel brave?”) and the lively characters, their expressions and comprehension of the example helps him think of his own feelings.
The “Touch and Feel” book we received is called “My Day” and walks the child through simply daily tasks like putting on clothes. Every other page has a different touch and feel panel and helps children understand different ways things can feel: smooth, rough, bumpy, etc.
The Peek-a-Boo Friends book was really cute. Even though there was a little face that was obvious to us who came next, my tot loved hearing us say “Peek-a-Boo who is it?” and he would laugh and turn the pages. We also had received the “Finger Puppet” book of Itsy Bitsy Spider and lots of hilarious singing and accompanied hand movements always commence. I think that is his favorite book since it is very interactive, which is also why I couldn’t get him to sit still for a photo!
There are many titles in the Little Learners Series, all of which promote early education, cognitive and language skills. My tot loves his books dearly and even though he may have read them dozens of times since they arrived, every day he likes to do “My Day” and talk about his feelings in “I Feel Happy”. I know your children will love them too!
Purchase: We had found many of these books at our local Barnes & Noble. They are available in many bookstores as well as on Amazon!
