When it comes to natural fiber cloth diapers, hemp is hands down my favorite.
It is so absorbent, yet very trim. Hemp layered under microfiber in a pocket diaper is perfect for fast/heavy wetters, especially at nap & night time. The microfiber quickly absorbs, and the hemp locks moisture in. A hemp insert in a cover makes a diaper nearly as trim as a disposable.
Pros:
Extremely absorbent
Very trim
Not as susceptible to compression leaks as microfiber
Naturally anti-microbial
Can be placed directly against skin
Sustainably Made
Cons:
More expensive than synthetic fibers
Needs to be washed several times to remove natural oils & reach full absorbency
Can be stiff when air dried
Water loving hemp needs plenty of water to get clean
Can take longer to dry
Cannot be bleached
