Last week, I shared some information with you about the new season of Oxygen’s “I?m Having Their Baby” Series, which starts tonight at 10/9c. I went a little deep in that post, deeper than I usually go into my personal extended family life. This however, is a topic that hits quite close to home.
Being a part of a family where adoption is a reality, I can totally relate to both sides. I get how loving and compassionate the adoptive parents are as well as how scared they must be going into this, with the constant fear in the back of their mind that the birth parents will change their mind. I get the sacrifice that the birth parents make, knowing that this is the right decision they have to make for this innocent child. It comes down to love, from both sides.
I’m actually really excited for the season premiere of Oxygen I’m Having Their Baby?on tonight. Going through this project, I got hooked on the show right away and I am not so patiently awaiting the next episodes! Watch the preview below for yourself to see just what’s in store.

I really encourage you to give this show a chance. Oxygen’s I’m Having Their Baby?might just shed some new light on adoption for you, if you’ve had mixed feelings in the past. Either way, here are some great points to consider about the show:
- As seen during season one, this documentary-style series gives viewers an intimate peak into the world of adoption by telling the too-often untold story of the birth mother and her experience in making this difficult and emotional choice. It documents a range of complicated, poignant, and personal stories as the women struggle with an unplanned pregnancy, move through the adoption process and ultimately, decide whether or not to place their baby in the hands of another family. Season two will continue on this path, delving deeper into the lives of birth mothers entering the adoption process, their family and friends affected by their decision and in some cases the potential adoptive couples.
- Each episode follows two pregnant women who have made the choice to place their babies for adoption, and are making the life changing decisions that come next. In getting to know the birth mother, and in some cases the birth father and potential adoptive couple, the hour-long episodes allow viewers to bear witness to the adoption process and heart wrenching final decision that each woman must face.
- Over the course of this docu-series, I?m Having Their Baby shows a wide range of various stories that feature young women that have chosen to put their baby up for adoption. Some are teenagers and some are well into their twenties; they come from states all over the country; and the circumstances that led to their choice are quite diverse. Ultimately, all of the women struggle with this decision and want to do what’s best for their baby as well as themselves.
