Mother’s Day is all about celebrating moms. While I enjoy time to myself, I sure do love spending quality time with my family. So that’s what we will be doing to celebrate me this Mother’s Day. We haven’t planned any specifics, I’d kind of like to just “go with the flow”. We will probably have a BBQ in the backyard and I hope they will buy me some new flowers to plant! One thing that I know for sure is that I will be unplugged.
I’m participating in the #SocialBlackout movement created by MetLife. The #SocialBlackout movement challenges everyone to unplug this Mother’s Day and stay away from social media. This way, we can give moms everywhere the attention they deserve!
I’m a Blogger by profession, so I know this won’t be easy. I will probably accidentally grab my tablet at least a time or two, but I will not cave! I will put it down, stay unplugged and revel in the joy that my family brings to me.
Things have changed so much over the years and now there are so many ways that we can connect with others online. You can log onto the World Wide Web from anywhere now, including the bathroom! We’ve become a society that is so driven by social media and the web, that sometimes we should take a step back and just enjoy the simple things in life.
Join Me in the #SocialBlackout this Mother’s Day!
I encourage you to join me this Mother’s Day in the #SocialBlackout and unplug for the day. Do whatever it is that you enjoy and spend some fun or relaxing quality time with your family!
I know that it might not be easy. I’m sure that I will have a hard time myself. In the end, I know that I will have a great day and it might be nice to forget about the online world for just one day!
You can find out more about the #SocialBlackout movement on the MetLife Facebook page. I’ve already changed my profile image in support!
