I love making handmade crafts with my kids. The first project I made with them for
Mother’s Day was Fingerprint Key Chains.
My youngest is three years old and had no trouble making hers all by
herself.

If
you are not familiar with Pearl X, it just adds a shimmer to your clay
pieces. Don?t worry if you have never
worked with oven baked clay it is very easy to use and non toxic. Just remember the more you play with the clay
the stickier it becomes.

For those of you that

it crumble in your hands.

the dough is still wet you can begin making your handprints. If you have more than one child make sure you
start with the largest hand. Then go
down in size/age to the smallest/youngest (just because they are younger does
not mean they are the smallest).

used cookie cutters to cut out a variety of shapes, and placed the shapes on
pan liner to bake. If you want to make hanging ornaments/key chains, pierce the
dough through with an end of a paint brush while it’s wet.

I
chose to experiment with Peal X (this is a powder that you can spread with an
eye shadow brush) while the dough is still wet to add color
to the hands. However, I did paint my plaque with white acrylic paint, and added some
glitter to jazz it up. Remember to varnish your pieces so they will last for a
lifetime.
