I love wine.
Enough that I am worried that my daughter will be one of those, “My mommy loves to drink wine every night!” to all of the class kind of kid. I remember ratting my mom out in Kindergarten, she was so embarrassed!
I have been on a kick to try new wines from different regions lately, so when I was able to review a white wine from Portugal I was excited! The wine, from M imports USA is called Hera, after the Greek Goddess. It is a Vinho Verde (“green wine”) that is a Loureiro White.

I LOVE the subtle blue of the bottle. When the bottle is full you can’t tell, but it is gorgeous empty!
The Hera wine is very light and subtle, with quiet fruit flavors and not too much of an oak-y taste. It wasn’t over powering at all, which is great. Vinho Verde actually refers to the age of the wine, so green as in young, versus the color. You learn something new every day!
It has a twist-off cap for those of us who can’t be bothered to wait to open a cork! 🙂
This is a great wine to have with lightly flavored foods. Its strength is in the subtle flavors, so meals like white fish, chicken, pork, etc would match best. It would be great as an appertif before a big flavorful meal.
