invite families to unplug for hours of good old-fashioned fun.Respect
for the environment is a priority and we are committed to planting two
trees for each one used to create our wooden games, planting over 125,000 trees to date.
I for one see that we as a society are trying to be more “green” and “earth-friendly” and it gets me excited. I am not talking about raising cows in the backyard or turning your whole family vegan but instead I am talking about doing little things to show our kids that being a “green” can be fun while still helping out Mother Earth a little bit. Opting for durable and eco-friendly playthings
that don’t require energy is a simple way to reduce waste and help
raise a generation of environmentally-conscious individuals.
The first recipient of Dr. Toy’s Green Toy Company award,

eco-friendly initiatives. Blue Orange partners
with Pur Projet to offset their carbon footprint. This organization
provides native trees for the reforestation of small producers? cocoa
plantations in the Amazon, helping thousands of farmers cultivating Fair
Trade and Organic certified cocoa to increase and diversify their
earnings, while protecting lands and biodiversity.
One of the games I was sent to review is ChickyBoom which is a balancing game for ages 4+ and from 2-4 players. You have to get the hay bales, wagon wheels and chickens off the perch or the whole thing comes down. Different items are worth different amounts of points which makes this cool balancing game also an early learning math game as well to see who is the winner. Big Sis had a blast playing at 4.5 years old but she has much to learn in the ways of balancing.
Each game has a video demonstration on their website to explain all the rules to you. Not gonna lie I totally watched the video so I made sure I was playing correctly. I think the videos are way better than just reading off plain old directions that sometimes just get me confused. The pieces are so nicely made which might be my favorite part of the game. They are heavy and not cheap feeling at all. You can tell just from picking up the pieces that this is no ordinary game.
I was also sent Froggy Boogie to review and it is a little more complicated than Chickyboom but after carefully explaining it to Big Sis she was able to play the game with much enthusiasm and no confusion. This one is for 4+ and from 2-6 players.
Basically you want your baby frog to jump around the lily pads without the parent frogs seeing them. You roll the dice and pick a frog based on the color combo from the dice. Turn over an eye and if there is a baby frog on the bottom of the dice the baby has been seen and can not move forward. A blank eye means the baby frog hops. Big Sis really got into this game and she was actually very gracious when I lost which is a big step for her.
These games are absolutely perfect for family game nights. We love playing games in our house and I might be a wee bit competitive even against my own kids! They have other cool looking games that I would love to play.
Keekee the Rocking Monkey looks like another nice balancing game and Zimbbos just looks awesome. I love jungle animals.
Blue Orange Games are no strangers to awards either. With their games and the way their company is run they are definitely award winners in my eyes too!
If you are looking for quality games that are not only fun to play but also made from wood then definitely pick up some Blue Orange Games for your family to play! I love playing board games with my daughters because I like teaching them that not every game needs a screen and that there is no greater joy than playing a board game with friends and family where you actually have pieces to move and play with while using your hands and imagination. I seriously could play board games every single day!
