Since 1913, the colossally creative artisans at Wells? the largest family-owned and operated ice cream manufacturer in the United States ?have been hard at work putting all things chunky, chewy, rich and gooey into their ice cream.
The Blue Bunny? brand was born in 1935 after the Wells brothers held a “Name That Ice Cream” contest in the Sioux City Journal . A Sioux City man won the $25 cash prize after submitting the winning entry along with his rendition of the original Blue Bunny? character.
Today, ice cream aficionados throughout all 50 states and Mexico can choose from nearly 500 tantalizingly tasty Blue Bunny? ice cream flavors, frozen dairy desserts and delectable novelties.
Blue Bunny? is made in Le Mars, Iowa: The Ice Cream Capital of the World. More ice cream is made in Le Mars than any other place on the planet!
Summer is quickly approaching and that means late nights, beach trips, and delicious cool treats to keep the heat away. Ice cream is a big treat in our house, reserved for birthdays and the hottest days of the year, which down South means three months out of the year. Although the preschooler is partial to plain vanilla, my husband and I are fans of all sort of flavors and toppings.
And lucky for us, Blue Bunny Ice Cream has launched a new line of tasty treats this past March. It’s all a part of the 100 year celebration going on! This whole line of new, improved thick and tasty ice cream is sure to take the celebration of any special moment and make it just that much more sweeter!
My family was lucky enough to try out a few products from the new line, but I’m so sugar rushed excited to tell you about all the new varieties!
The new line of Premium Ice Cream Sandwiches is offered in four tempting flavors:
Birthday Party: My son’s favorite flavor! Two vanilla wafers hold all that is delicious between them, birthday cake flavored ice cream! Colorful confetti sprinkles dot the ice cream between swirls of the best part, blue frosting! I’m not ashamed to admit, this was the first box of ice cream gone and we’ve been on the hunt for a new box ever since!
Simply Vanilla: This was my favorite sandwich. Two chocolate wafers, which are slightly crispy and not at all mushy, like other brands, holds together a thick slab of velvety vanilla ice cream. The deliciousness is proved in the simplicity. Vanilla, chocolate, drool.
Chocolate Lovers: Chocolate wafers, chocolate ice cream, and swirls of fudge sauce. I don’t see what could go wrong here.
Triple Delight: Chocolate wafers house a triple threat of vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry ice cream. Perfect for the person who can’t make up their mind!
Ice Cream Cones
Mini Swirls Caramel Ice Cream Cones: That’s a mouth full and so are these mini cones! Perfectly sized for little hands or just the right size to stave off a sugar craving, these cones don’t disappoint! Inside the sweet sugar cone is a thick layer of chocolate. On top, a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream, with a hidden treasure of caramel sauce. Then the top is dipped in milk chocolate, giving the shell a nice crisp crunch as you dive in.

Cadbury? Ice Cream Bars
Cadbury English Toffee: Oh My Yum! I inhaled these bars and thus, never got a picture of them. Reduced Fat Toffee Blue Bunny Ice Cream dipped in Cadbury Milk Chocolate and then coated with toffee pieces. Not too much that can go wrong here. Trust me when I say, the ice cream is so thick and indulgent, you’ll have no idea it’s “diet” ice cream!
Cadbury Ice Cream Bar Royal Dark?: Reduced Fat Blue Bunny Vanilla ice cream hidden underneath a shell of thick, rich, and taste bud tantalizing Cadbury Royal Dark Chocolate. I had to hide these bars from my husband. Perfectly sized for an after dinner treat or a reward for running errands, I still have a couple hidden away for a late night treat after the kid goes to bed!
Premium Ice Cream Inspired by Chef Duff Goldman
It’s hard to find a person who doesn’t know who Chef Duff is! He’s been all over T.V. and runs a successful bakery! Blue Bunny launched premium ice cream flavors based off of Duff’s creations a little over two years ago and it’s been a hit since! The newest flavor is Caramel Fudge Brownie Sundae: Chocolate ice cream is serenaded with low fat Caramel flavored ice cream. Rich dark fudge brownie bites enhanced the flavor and texture, while buttery caramel swirls add a touch of sweetness! Add a couple scoops into a bowl over a warm brownie and whipped cream and you have such an indulgent treat, you’ll feel like you’re doing something bad, but it tastes oh so good!
All Natural Frozen Yogurt
White Mint Chocolate Chunk: White Mint Fro-Yo is creamy with just the right amount of mint to perk up your mouth and sweet chunk of chocolate. Asides from enjoying a scoop in a bowl, I’ve taken to blending a couple of scoops with milk to enjoy a thick and creamy fro-yo milk shake!
Chocolate Fudge Brownie: Who says frozen yogurt has to be boring? Chocolate frozen yogurt stuffed with fudge sauce and brownie bites sounds like a sweet but still good for you treat!
My favorite part of the 100 Year Celebration is how Blue Bunny has pledge to help grant 100 wishes to children from the Make-A-Wish Foundation. So be on the lookout for the new line of Blue Bunny Ice Cream and beat the heat while helping support a company who is making such a big change in the lives of kids!
