I’ve been dying my hair for as long as I can remember. My very first color was called Cotton Candy Pink (which I don’t suggest trying). Over the years I had run the gambit on colors and finally settled into two colors that I absolutely loved, dark auburn’s and brunette’s. I’m sure those of you that dye your own hair also have come across a favorite that you stick with continually. At some point that color becomes a characteristic of you. I no longer see myself as the once-upon-a-time blonde that I was… my created color has become my pseudo natural color.
However, doing all over dyes consistently changes the temperature and tone of your previous dye. Each time I would do an all over color to blend my roots in, everything but my roots would become darker. Although they would take on a similar hue, it would most certainly be lighter than the rest of my hair. After a few times of doing this, everything on the lower half becomes the darkest shades with varying depreciating layers of color towards the top.
This doesn’t work out if you want your hair all one color.
There is a very simple way to color correct your roots without messing up the smooth color of the rest. Clairol’s Root Touch-Up by Nice ‘N Easy allows you to easily blend your roots into the color you already have. The Root Touch-Up shades are the same as the permanent all over dyes, so you just have to match up which color you have been using (or a similar color if you are switching) and follow the directions.
The nice thing about the Root Touch-Up is the brush & dish. It allows you to mix the color in the dish and then brush it on your roots.
The best way to apply the Root Touch-Up to your roots is to make sure you are separating your hair properly. Use the bristles as a measure to where you should separate next. After applying to your natural part, flip sections of your hair over to apply directly to your roots in other areas. The instructions will show you how to do this. As a tip, (If you don’t have a pick comb) I always use a pencil to make sure I get an even separation.
I know it kind of looks like two different colors but it is really just the difference in lighting between my bathroom and sunlight. You can, however, see how the roots are completely blended with the rest of the hair rather than differing shades!
I am a huge fan of Clairol Nice ‘N Easy shades, so it was an obvious choice for me to pick up Root Touch-Up and I have used it prior to this review. I wanted to share it with you because I’ve had great experiences with this product and I honestly think you will to.
You can check out the 21 different shades of Root Touch-Up by Nice ‘N Easy on their website. If you aren’t sure about your color you can always use the My Shade application and the Hair Advice section! You also have the ease of purchasing from the website or at any retailer near you.
