I love coffee filters. They are cheap, pretty much everyone has them, and you can make all kinds of fun things with them! My newest idea? Coffee filter shamrocks for St. Patrick’s day!
If you are looking for a fun St. Patrick’s Day craft project for the classroom, for home-school, or just for fun, then this coffee filter shamrocks craft is just what you need. You likely have all of the supplies at home already too!
How to make coffee filter shamrocks
Here are the supplies that you will need:
- coffee filters
- pencil
- scissors
- green markers
- paint brush
and water (or spray bottle)
These coffee filter shamrocks are seriously easy to make. This simple tutorial shares exactly how to make them.
Step 1. First, you will need to fold the coffee filter in half.
Step 2. Next, you will need to free hand half of a shamrock, starting at the crease of the fold that you made in the coffee filter.
Step 3. Cut out the shamrock shape and unfold it.
Step 4. Next, use whatever green markers you have in the house to decorate the shamrock. This set of markers is perfect because it has multiple colors of green markers that are great for this project.
Step 5. Use a paintbrush and some water to dampen the coffee filter shamrock, or you can dampen it with a spray bottle instead. You will see the marker colors start to bleed together and spread out. Cool!
Step 6. Let the coffee filters dry and you are done! These look great taped to the window – the sun shines right through them!
This is a great craft project for you to do with your kids for St. Patrick’s Day. You can also save time by cutting out multiple shamrocks at a time and then the kids can go nuts decorating and spraying!
Happy Crafting!
