Inspired by pure passion, Perugina co-founder Luisa Spagnoli created a confection as grand as her love for a special someone. It was called Baci, the Italian word for kisses, and around each she would wrap a love note. She realized the confection was too good to keep secret, and soon Baci became a favorite among the young lovers browsing the Perugina sweetshop.
Nearly 100 years later, Baci are still exclusively produced in Perugia, Italy. The recipe is unchanged: silky dark chocolate envelopes a heart of gianduia (a luscious blend of chocolate and hazelnut cream) dotted with more chopped hazelnuts and gloriously crowned with a whole hazelnut. Each Baci remains hugged by a note that reflects sentiments of love, affection and friendship. It’s no wonder to give a Baci is to say ?I love you? the Italian way.
I am a big chocolate fan. My true love would have to be for white chocolate. Something about it just hits the spot. Perugina, the Italian chocolatier recently introduced a new Baci White version and I was super excited to try them out.
Let me just say that they are super yum! They taste rich and smooth just like a yummy white chocolate treat should. I ate these when the kids were not looking. A treat of this caliber is not for mouths that would eat regular chocolate right off the floor.
Perugina’s Baci White confections are the perfect way to celebrate special occasions, with a ?Kiss from the Heart of Italy.? Baci is the Italian word for kisses and the confections are produced in the hills of Perugia near the historic home of St. Valentine. In keeping with tradition, Baci confections include a special message of love tucked into each foil wrapper. Baci White have a gianduia center, a sensuous whipped chocolate filling blended with finely chopped hazelnuts, that is crowned by a crunchy whole hazelnut and enrobed in creamy, smooth white chocolate
