From the beaches to the bays, rivers to the waves or just hanging by the pool – where there is water there is Snapper Rock.Designed in New Zealand where our Ozone layer is pretty thin, we have the expertise in ways we can protect our kids in the sun, without taking away their fun.
As parents of small kid’s we make sure what they like is what we launch. We ensure our swimwear has the functionality that parents want – UV protection, lightweight, breathable and quick drying without compromising on style.

We are a family that loves the outdoors. One of our favorite outdoor activities is swimming. We live in Florida, we have a pool and my parents that live nearby live on a lake…so that means we are in the water pretty much all year. Since we are in our swimsuits all the time we use a lot of sunscreen. To me the swimsuit you wear is just as important as the sunscreen you use. I believe that swimwear should have UV protection and thankfully Snapper Rock shares in many of the beliefs I do when it comes to swimwear. I am especially cautious because I had basal cell skin cancer when I was 19 years old and I had never once set foot in a tanning salon.
I know that there are several different brands of UV swimwear out there for kids but what sets Snapper Rock a part from the competition are the cute designs and functionality of their swimsuits. Just look at the ones I was sent in the pictures below. Absolutely adorable!
The one on the left is a one piece sun suit sized 12-24 months. Lil Sis is almost 15 months old and it fits her with room to grow. I usually stick a reusable swim diaper underneath and you are good to go. I really like that it has a zipper in the front which makes it easier to put it on and take it off. Big Sis now wears size 4 and 5 clothing. I chose the swimsuit set size 4 because the next size is 6 and I thought it would be too big. I was right, the set fits her perfectly. A HUGE plus with these is the neck hole is not too small. My children have normal sized heads and I hate when I am stretching and pulling to get my daughters into rash guards. These fit with no problem.
After a recent 5k color run I go back to my house and my friends and I jump in my freezing (to my Florida standards) cold pool to clean off. Of course Big Sis did not want to be left out so she tried out her new suit from Snapper Rock. She absolutely loved it especially since we do not allow our girls to wear bikinis so this was technically her first one. This was a fair compromise since it is a 2 piece sports set and it includes a matching rash guard. She kept saying that she looked like the surf girls on TV. I like my girls wearing rash guards because it covers up more skin to protect them from harmful rays. Rash guards are also nice when we are out boating and doing water sports like tubing and wakeboarding.
I realize that there are a lot of UV swim sets out there for kids. I have bought and tried many myself. Snapper Rock is definitely high quality UV gear for kids. Just looking at the material itself it seems well constructed. The bathing suits fit my daughters great. Many times I get a swimsuit for Big Sis and the leg holes are sooo big that the swimsuit is useless. These dry super quick so for a vacation you can just pack one suit for each family member. Best of all their swimsuits are UV 50 protection (blocking 98% of all harmful rays).
