The Oppenheim Toy Portfolio has become a benchmark of excellence with consumers, toy makers and the media. Stephanie Oppenheim is a regular contributor to NBC’s TODAY Show. Each year they sniff out the very best amongst a crowded field of just launched toys. Peaceable Kingdom wowed them with every one of their five 2012 games for children ages 3 and older.
Oppenheim was impressed with Peaceable Kingdom’s offering of colorful cooperative games, a buzzword among early educators for sharing and working together instead of competing against another.
This year’s Oppenheim Platinum Best Toy Award went to Seeds For The Birds($15.99, for ages 3 and up) and Race To The Treasure ($15.99, for ages 5 and up). These two games are green, made of post-consumer recycled cardboard and printed with soy-based inks. Oppenheim Gold Best Toy Awards went to three adorable coop games: Willy’s Wiggly Web, Snug As A Bug In A Rug and Feed The Woozle (all three are $19.99 for ages 3 and up with leveled play and skill development for three ages groups).
Get all the little colorful bugs under the rug before the 3 stink bugs stink up the place! Watch closely and make those matches! Spin the spinner and find a matching bug. Then slip it under the rug. Take turns spinning and matching and try to get all the bugs under the rug before the 3 stink bugs are sitting on top. Each level adds more challenge. Work together to find those matches and you all win!?
Here is the game board all set up for the first play. The board and the pieces are all made of high quality material and therefore are nice and sturdy. We did have to put the stickers on the dice and we would have prefered the images to be printed directly on the dice instead of on a sticker. Not a big deal just a personal preference.
What a great change of pace to have a board game be all the players against a common obstacle so that we can work together as a team instead of against each other.
Peaceable Kingdom offers several different games, books and more and with most at under $20 they make great gifts. Way better than your run of the mill plastic toy. Here at our house we love board games!
