I am a HUGE fan of Halloween. The first of October and I have all my decorations out. Anything Fall related and I get super excited. I usually have my girl’s costumes picked out before October. Big Sis is now 4 and she loves dressing up all year long. So I am more than willing to spend a little more on a costume for her since I know she will use it all the time. Dressing up is one of her specialities.
I love Halloween so much that by the first week in October I am looking online for local Halloween parties and Fall Festivals for my girls to attend.
I found out that our local Bass Pro offers free trick or treating on certain days as well as a free craft.

I am also a big fan of zoos. They are relatively inexpensive and they have lots of things for little ones to learn. Most of the ones around here in Florida also have small splash parks so bring a bathing suit. Boo at the zoo is just like it sounds. You go from station to station getting free candy. Our local one even hands out a free toothbrush at the end donated from a local dentist.?

One place you might have not thought of is your local college. When I attended UF the sororities put on a free Halloween event every year. You could go from sorority house to sorority house getting free candy and each house also had a free craft to do. With over 12 houses that is a lot of free fun. I don’t live in Gainesville anymore but I checked out a small private college near my parent’s house, Rollins College in Orlando and just like UF they offer a free Halloween event. The one at Rollins College is put on by the Greek system of both sorority and fraternity houses. It is held in a big courtyard complete with bounce houses, crafts, games and haunted houses! The best part was watching a fraternity guy read a children’s Halloween story to a group of little kids. I wish his parent’s were there to see him, he was great!

This year we hit up Sea World in Orlando for their Halloween festivities. We have an annual pass and once inside the Halloween candy and events were free. Lots of candy and a huge dance stage was set up. Did I mention that Big Sis loves to dance, she spent a while shaking her groove thing on the stage.
My local children’s museum and history museum also have events although I have not attended them yet. Most events are included in your paid admission.
