National Baby Safety Month Survey Shows Today’s Parents are Extremely Safety Conscious

What
are parents? top safety concerns? Moms and dads worry most about their
children falling, getting into harmful material, choking and Sudden
Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

In
honor of National Baby Safety Month, VTech commissioned a survey to
poll parents? safety attitudes, purchasing behavior and overall
parenting behavior. The results — today’s parents are extremely
safety conscious with the majority (71 percent) of survey respondents
labeling themselves as either ?close supervisors? or very ?protective.?
Other survey findings include:

Men and women have different safety styles — men identified themselves as more relaxed about baby safety than women.
Parents get an incomplete on their safety homework — only 40 percent of survey respondents researched important safety recalls to ensure their products are not defective.
Parents are good at following instructions for safety — the majority of parents surveyed (58 percent) read all the instructions before using or assembling the product to ensure safe operation.

When survey respondents were asked about the most important baby product – baby monitors topped the list. And VTech’s Safe&Sound baby monitors

For me those survey results are right on target. I am extremely safety conscious…just ask my husband as he thinks I take it a little too far which is another survey result that was just like my household. For me my absolutely number one baby safety item is a carseat and right after that is a baby monitor.

The images on the screen in person are amazing. Oh how I wish I had this monitor when my oldest was a baby. This really is a great baby monitor.

One of my favorite features would have to be the two way communication. My almost 4 year old is still not great at going to bed at bed time. With this monitor if I catch her trying to get out of bed or if she asks a question I just press the button and I can talk back to her.

I also just loved that I could plug it in every night and it would charge. No need to constantly change batteries! As I write this I am watching my oldest daugher sleep on the monitor. It really helps put my mind at rest knowing I can “check in” on her to make sure she is alright. This will be even more useful when I use it with my baby girl.

I am quite certain I will be using this monitor for many years to come. As the girls get bigger I will just move it to their play room so I can watch them while I am cooking dinner in the kitchen.

As a super safety conscious mom I do what I can to help set my mind at ease. Having a reliable baby monitor makes this tired mama sleep a little better…that is until Lil Sis wakes up for those nighttime feedings…again….and again…
