The idea for SafetyTat temporary child ID tattoos was born of necessity one weekend at an amusement park. On Labor Day Weekend, Baltimore Mom, Michele Welsh and her husband, there with their three small children, felt out-numbered. To stave her panic, she quickly wrote her mobile phone number on each of their arms with a ballpoint pen. As she did this, she thoughtfully explained to each of them the importance of staying close to Mommy and Daddy. She also told them that if they were separated that the number on their arm was a way to reconnect with them.Throughout the day of fun, Michele had to rewrite the number several times as it smeared or washed off. Several parents in the park stopped her to ask if that was her number on the kids’ arms. Each time, they loved the idea.
We’ve all been there, as the child and now, as the parent. Going to a park, fair, amusement park, or any other extremely crowded location. When your child’s hand escapes your grasp in a throng of people, strangers, and your heart leaps into your throat an d you have to do all you can not to scream like a lunatic for them. Our panic moment came last year in a not very crowded place. We were at our favorite big box store, you know the one, with the red shirt employees, when I left Sonshine with my husband to look at baby gifts for a friend. My husband quickly walked up to me, ashen faced, and whispered he had lost Sonshine. I thought he was joking, as that is the kind of guy he is, but when tears sprang into his eyes, I knew he wasn’t. I quickly scanned the area they had been in last then found an employee and through hiccups of hyperventilation, I explained our situation. They were swift in locking down the store and calling code and we started to race around in an organized panic. Luckily, our little guy was found after his shopping spree of jewelery (“I got this for you mommy!”) and raiding other aisles. I never cried so hard in my life and I just did not know what I was going to do to keep him safe.
SafetyTat is one of the best ideas out there in the help to keep your children safe. If your child can walk on their own, this specially designed tattoo should be applied to their arms whenever you leave for a crowded event. There are a couple different styles of SafetyTats, the Original and the Quick Stick Write-On! The Quick Stick requires no water to apply, simply peel and stick onto your child’s arm! It is sweatproof and waterproof and could last up to two weeks or whenever you’re ready to remove it. This type of SafetyTat is shipped blank and includes a waterproof tattoo marking pen. This is the best tattoo to use when dropping your child off with grandparents, on school field trips, play dates and more! You’re able to write the phone number of the person your child is with.
We chose the Original SafetyTat, which is applied with twenty seconds of rubbing and then covering the back with water, like a temporary tattoo. It also arrives with your chosen phone number on it. This tattoo last between one and five days and will require something to take it off with, like baby oil (we discovered olive oil works too!).
Sonshine got a whole package of the Original SafetyTat featuring his favorite dinosaur ever, “Tops” the Triceratops! We’ve worn them every single day that we’ve gone out and with his sensitive skin, we’ve never had a problem! He loves his tattoo and I love that there is a way for him to get in contact with me if he ever wanders away! The Original are not as bright as the Quick Sticks, but even with his fair skin, they’re very easy to spot! The phone number is printed large and is easy to read, so a stranger will not have to touch them to see. As a mom, I am grateful for the extra protection and safety the tats offer. It is easy to put on and stays on for days, although we put a new one on each time we go out. It has not once bothered his very sensitive skin, thanks to the tats also being hypoallergenic. And even through out play in the 90 degree heat with 80% humidity, we never had a problem with fading, rubbing away, or being scratched off! These tats are fantastic!
If you’re looking for a fun way to help your kids stay safe when you’re out enjoying your day at the amusement park or even when they’re out with other family members, then slap a SafetyTat onto their arms and relax, well, at least, breath a little easier!
