Last week I mentioned a #OdwallaCFK Game Day Challenge that I was working on. My challenge was to to collect and donate sports equipment to a charity in my community. I headed out to Walmart with The Man, Big Bro and my sister in search of Odwalla and some sports/outdoor products. You can check out our whole shopping experience on Google+.
I headed to the summer toy aisle immediately because I knew that I would be able to get more for my money. This way, we’d be able to share the love with more children! Walmart had some pretty fun stuff at great prices.
We spent quite a long time in the store and I even hit up the Garden Center. The beautiful flowers sure picked me up!
As soon as I got home, I gathered all of the stuff outside so that I could get a really good shot! I especially wanted to highlight Odwalla since they were a big part of this!
Here are all the toys that we gathered to donate. In my last post I mentioned that Big Bro and I would be saving our change and collecting more change so that we could purchase and donate even more toys! I’m excited to share that we’re up to $10 already just in our own change! Now it’s time to start asking for help from friends and neighbors.
I chose to donate the fun stuff we bought to our local food pantry. After dropping the stuff off this morning, I’m even more excited that I chose them as my charity for this mission! The two women in the office were so excited! I asked if I could take a photo of them with the sports equipment and one said sure. The other preferred to be behind the camera, so I stepped in the photo. Please don’t mind me, I did all this running right after the kids got on the bus this morning, so I hadn’t even done anything with myself yet! I sure wasn’t expecting to be in any photos that would be posted on my blog! But hey, at least I had the guts to share. This is me, glasses, make-up free, hair a mess and all.; either love me or hate me!
The two ladies in the office were so sweet. We actually had a little fun taking pictures and playing with all of the stuff. They said I had perfect timing because they were having a mom and kids day there today! Hopefully the kids will enjoy taking something fun home!
The woman in the photo had another taken of us on her phone. She emailed it in to our local community newspaper, so I might even be in the paper! Exciting as that may be, I really wish I would have done a little bit to myself before taking all of the things there to donate! I suppose that’s a lesson learned because you never know when you’ll be in the spotlight!
