Many of us are concerned about our heart health. Exercise is key in keeping our heart healthy, but staying active can be difficult. We start trying a fitness routine, but without measurable results, it is hard to keep motivated. Seeing progress is key. How do we get the data to track our progress? From products like these from Reebok:
The Reebok In View Pedometer
allows you to keep track of your progress (ie steps taken, approximate calories burned, etc) without the rest of the world around you seeing. The data is only visible to you via a window on the top of the pedometer. It is nice and light weight. While wearing mine, I hardly noticed that I had it on. This pedometer would be great for anyone a little shy about sharing their progress (or not, it works well and is stylish, so even if you are NOT shy, this is a great option for you!)
The Reebok In Touch Heart Rate Monitor watch is a great way to track your progress AND your heart rate. Back in High School, I remember taking a fitness PE class that had us using a heart rate monitor. While I liked being able to track my heart rate, I found the chest strap very uncomfortable. While, I understand the benefits of tracking your heart rate during exercise, I never wanted to exercise with an uncomfortable chest strap! When I was offered the opportunity to try this strapless heart rate monitor watch, I jumped at the chance. Finding your heart rate is simple. You just touch the metal ring around the outside of the watch face with your finger and wait until the watch beeps, and ta-dah..you have your current heart rate!
The watch also has a pedometer function. I tried using this with the settings for my height to calculate the distance I had traveled and I found it to be a bit inaccurate ( I used a set distance, so I could check). I know that these settings can be altered, which I will do to help it’s readings to be more accurate. But be aware that you may need to play with the settings to get an accurate distance measure.
What I like most about this watch is its simplicity. It is simple in both function (super easy to get your heart rate) and design. It is an attractive watch that I would wear all day, not just for fitness activities.
