I am a huge fan of George Clooney. I’ll even admit to a little bit of a crush on him in my younger years. I was quite excited to see The Descendants because he was in it and it sounded like a really good movie. I also got a little bit addicted to The Secret Life of the American Teenager a few months ago {gotta love Netflix} and was quite excited to see Shailene Woodley in another role. Shailene and George have somewhat of the same attitude and humor, so I thought they were a perfect pair in The Descendants.
The Descendants tells a wonderful, yet sad and tragic story of love and family. I don’t want to ruin the story, so I’ll only share so much. After his wife’s accident, Matt has to tell bring his oldest daughter home and tell her they are pulling the plug, per her mother’s wishes. She then has to tell him why she and her mother fought and why she is so angry with her still; she cheated on Matt.
The two of them embark on a journey to find out who this guy is and also show an act of kindness {that many people would probably be unable to do} by letting him know that Matt’s wife is on her death bed. He invited him to the hospital if he would like to say goodbye.
In some ways, The Descendants was tragic, yet in other ways it was quite funny. It was definitely a story worth watching and I enjoyed seeing the father/daughter relationship grow as it did.
