The Holidays may be over, but the year still brings with it many days of gift giving and no matter what day it is – finding the right gift can be stressful. Although shopping online has made things a little easier I still enjoy going into a store. Last minute gift ideas and rewards for good behavior / grades aren’t really as successful if our children have to wait on shipping. Besides, stores have deals! And when in doubt they have people to assist in finding what you are looking for; especially if you aren’t very sure yourself. One of the gifts I am always happy to have store assistance in finding are games. I’m just not a modern gamer like my teen and there are thousands upon thousands. Woe to the Mom who brings home an ‘uncool’ game.
Video games are certainly one gift category that can be really difficult to make sense of and they can also be hugely expensive! GameStop ? the world’s largest multichannel video game retailer ? and the ESRB ? the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (who determines the age ratings you may have seen on the front of game boxes) are a great place to start. I have a GameStop membership and it has certainly helped us out on purchasing games. We get 10% Off Pre-Owned Games & Accessories! We got it a few years ago on Christmas Eve when my Husband decided last minute that he wanted to purchase my son an X-Box 360 but all the stores were sold out. He went to every superstore and then he walked into a GameStop. Right there on the desk was not only an X-Box 360 but an Elite, in Black and on a HUGE discount for being pre-owned. (This may not happen to you, it was a miracle.) It was my sons best Christmas and since we have purchased all of his games there.

When I had the same X-Box have an error some months later and brought it back, GameStop inexpensively fixed it, kept us updated and we had in home in a few weeks. They also wouldn’t charge us until they could make sure it was something simple and didn’t have to be sent in to Microsoft. They’re very wonderful people and the assistance in the store is not only remarkable for it’s kindness, but because they are knowledgeable about what they are offering.
