I just love Christmas. It’s my favorite time of year. I know last year I told you all that I was boycotting Christmas, but I just can’t! Especially with all that we have been through in the past 7 months, I couldn’t just disappoint everyone like that. We need that family togetherness now, more than ever.
One of the things that I just love about the holiday season is giving and receiving Christmas cards! I know it seems like such a silly thing to be excited about, but I just love them! It only takes a moment to send a card, and they’re cheap enough that you can share the joy of the season with everyone you know. I always hung our cards in an archway at our old house and it looked so nice. I’ll have to figure out where to hang them in the new house though!
I just adore Storkie Christmas cards like the one above, so personal and sweet! Photo cards are such a great way to share recent photos of your family with family and friends that don’t get to see you often.
I usually start my holiday planning with the purchase of my Christmas cards and I’d like to share some of those tips with you.
10 Holiday Planning Tips
- Open you personal address book and create a list of everyone that you’d like to send Christmas cards to. {If I have the address for that person, I write that down right away so that I don’t have to go back for it later.}
- Count how many people you’ll be sending cards too this year.
- Many store bought cards come in packs of 18-25 so if you have more than that on your list, consider going with a couple different styles. {That’s what I do!}
- Go to the store and/or shop online to find your favorite cards.
- If you find a photo card that you like and want to use, decide what kind of pictures you’d like to include.
Now the hard part, deciding which pictures to use!
- Search for pictures in your computer that you may want to use.
- If you can’t find any you like, plan a photo shoot for your family. This doesn’t have to be a professional shoot! I take all of my own pictures for ours. You just have to get creative! Some suggestions are outdoor photos done in black and white, snow pictures or photos of your family in holiday/winter pajamas.
- Start creating your cards and upload the photos you plan to use.
- When you physically have your cards, plan an hour or two to fill them out. If you have multiple styles, decide {as you go} who will get which card.
- Send you cards on or right after Thanksgiving! This gives people enough time to send you on back if they’d like!
