I know, they’ve been few and far between lately. I know some of you actually enjoy my little rantings and you’ll be glad to know you haven’t missed a whole lot!
This summer has been pretty slow for us, mostly work and barely enough play to keep us occupied. But really, I’m not complaining because I love our new house. We all do. I think everyone is pretty happy now and that is definitely a good thing. It’s about time!
Our boat has been broken so there are no fun boat stories to share like last year. But, the kids have been fishing their little butts off and catching lots of fish. We still don’t have enough “keepers” for a fish fry yet, but that’s besides the point.
We finally do have something to look forward to though! I am so excited, as are the rest of my little zoo over here. We are going to Kalahari in Wisconsin Dells on Monday. Woo Hoo! We cannot wait to get out of here! It will be the first “real” fun thing we have done since summer began and we definitely deserve it after all of the hard work and sweat we’ve been dishing out! There will be lots of pictures to share afterward, so watch for the post!
My grandparents live about 45 minutes away from there, so we’ll be stopping in to see them before we go. My grandma will be so happy to see all of the kids. I’m sure it will ease her mind just a little bit to actually “see” for herself that they’re all being well taken care of by The Man and I. Ours may not be traditional in any sense of the word, but we are a family; for the most part a happy one.
Everyone is adjusting to our new life together pretty well actually. The kids are all signed up for school. My boys got to tour their school this afternoon and they are really excited. My brothers are actually looking forward to a fresh start in a new school a little bit too, so that’s a good thing!
The house is coming along nicely. It’s almost done! We’ve been hanging drywall and painting in the front part of the house this week. After that’s done, we just need to get the ceilings in and carpet. Then we’re done! I’ll finally have a bedroom again, which is going to be awesome! The Man and I were joking the other day that we’re going to lock ourselves in there for a few days just to finally escape!
We’ve been enjoying the yard and I even got to plant some flowers. Luckily there was a rock garden to start with when we got here. I just pulled out all of the weeds and added flowers here and there as I could. It’s something pretty to look at for now, but next year it will be gorgeous once all of the flowers can mature a little bit.
On a very personal “me” note, I have lost 2 complete sizes in the past few months! I wasn’t even really trying. Just with the stress of everything, I could barely eat for awhile. When my appetite finally did come back, I no longer craved junk food and sweets as much! Here’s t o a happier, thinner me!
Oh, and I almost forgot the SUPER exciting news! I’m going to New York City next month, woot! I cannot divulge any details at the moment but I assure once I can, you’ll be the first to know! I have never been to NYC yet so I am super excited!
