I had always wanted to have a smooth tan, what woman doesn’t? I don’t have a lot of time to coat myself in sunscreen and lay outside for hours and I’m too afraid to go to a tanning bed, both have their dangers regardless. So when I was offered a Luminess Tan system to review I exclaimed in glee to my husband, “No more bikini line for me!” Needless to say I was excited and once the system arrived at my door I decided to have a fun in home spa day, for as long as I could that is.
The kit comes with an easy to understand airbrush system, a CD to walk you through how to do it properly, 2 bottles of tanning solution (although 1/2 a bottle will work just fine for up to 2 – 3 weeks) and many diagrams on how to set it up, how to properly prepare your skin and also how to aim. These were great because I was somewhat intimidated and it helped me to double check before I began. I decided to start outside with my legs, it was a beautiful day and I wanted to pretend the sun was involved somehow. This isn’t necessary.

It was actually kind of fun spraying on the tanning solution. I had my headphones on, a small hand towel beside me in case I messed up and put a little too much in one spot and I simply enjoyed myself. I eventually had to go inside and have my husband finish tanning the areas I couldn’t reach, that was an entirely different amusement! All I kept thinking, however, was how much I really wish I had gotten this before my wedding night. This is so perfect that it should be on the wedding planner! Or that week I went to Flordia where I looked as though I were white chalk streaked across a sepia landscape. It would have been perfect then as well. Honestly, any day during the summer when I take off my bikini and see the lines where one part looks practically white in comparison to where I may have tanned. Perhaps there is a small amount of personal vanity in us all, but how I love, love, love not having to see those lines. How beautiful it feels to have one smooth color kissing my skin continuously to where I don’t have to worry about my face being a different tone than my neck, or my feet having that ghastly sandal tan. You will fall in love with it too.

This may seem steep until you realize that 1 decent salon spray tan could be up to $70.00, by the time to get to the point in having a decent tan in a tanning bed you could have spent in estimate $120.00 (in one month). If 1/2 a bottle of Luminess Tan covers your entire body for up to 3 weeks, then that is $29.00 a month after you purchase the system. So in fact, if you love to tan this is the cheaper way to go and safer, much safer, than the tanning beds and unfortunately our beautiful natural sunlight.
