The holidays are growing closer every day. I can’t believe it’s already mid October. This year has totally just flown by!
We pretty much stick to the same traditions every year. Since we moved into this house a little over four years ago, the Man’s family has been gathering in our house for Thanksgiving. His dad comes early to help me start prepping the turkey. There’s just something about dead birds, I dunno. I don’t like to touch them. Creepy!
A few people bring other things like ham, yams and green bean casserole so that I don’t have to do all of the cooking. The turkey would always be taking up the whole oven and something else would need to be warmed up or finished. We’d have to wait until the turkey was done so there would be room and for some reason, the turkey was never done when it was supposed to be!
After dinner, everyone would sit around one of the big tables that were set up in the living room and computer room, play cards and drink. It really is a lot of fun, and one of my favorite times of the year!
We do something similar on Christmas Eve too. The family gathers to open gifts and we have Hors D’oeuvres. We kind of alternate between houses each year.
Another tradition we have is having Christmas day during the afternoon/evening with my family, although we don’t always make that one.
I love that we pretty much stick to these same tradition every year to share with our kids.
