I love the holiday season and have so much fun getting prepared. We do so many fun things together as a family – like decorating and shopping for our loved ones. Now that the kids are older, Lil Man loves to work in the kitchen; so I’ll have a baking helper this year! I’ve been seeing OREO Cookie Balls all over the place and thought it would be fun to make some holiday themed ones to add to the cookie tins that I pass out to family and friends. Of course, the dude likes to help me shop for ingredients at Walmart too. Think he likes OREO cookies much?
Now this recipe is awesome because you only need 3 ingredients to make the official OREO Cookie Balls. And that’s just how these OREO Cookie Balls Snowmen start out – the traditional way!
OFFICIAL COOKIE BALL RECIPE
Ingredients:
- 1 pkg (8 oz.) brick cream cheese, softened
- 36 OREO Cookies, finely crushed (about 3 cups)
- 4 pkg. (4 oz. each) semi-sweet baking chocolate, melted
Make it!
- MIX cream cheese and cookie crumbs until blended.
- SHAPE into 48 (1-inch) balls. Freeze 10 min. Dip balls in melted chocolate; place in single layer in shallow waxed paper-lined pan.
- CUSTOMIZE it with your own ingredient additions or decorative skills.
- REFRIGERATE 1 hour or until firm.
You’re going to follow those instructions, except you will want to make half of your balls 1.5 inches. Those will serve as the body, while the 1 inch balls will be the head. You will need the following additional ingredients for each OREO Cookie Balls Snowman that you make:
- 1 inch OREO Cookie Ball
- 1.5 inch OREO Cookie Ball
- 2 mini chocolate chips for eyes
- orange tic tac, cut in half
- 2 red or green round sprinkles for buttons
- 1/4 inch strip of a mini fruit roll for scarf
- white chocolate – melted
After you’ve made the OERO Cookie Balls and let them set for an hour, you’ll make the Snowmen one at a time by first rolling the 1.5 inch ball in white chocolate, then repeat for the 1 inch ball. Place a drip of melted white chocolate onto the 1.5 inch ball, then place the 1 inch ball on top. Next you’ll need to wrap the scarf by starting at the back of the snowman with the middle of the fruit roll strip, then wrap one side around to the middle of the front of the snowman. Repeat with the other side, overlapping the first to create the effect of a scarf.
Now your snowman is starting to take shape and you’ll complete the look with eyes, a nose and buttons by first putting a very small dab of melted white chocolate on the back of each item, then placing it where you want it to go on the snowman. Then you’ll let them chill in the refrigerator for another hour to set completely.
Before you know it, your OREO Cookie Ball Snowmen will be ready to eat and enjoy!
These OREO Cookie Ball Snowmen are perfectly festive for any holiday gathering or for a children’s party. You could even add pretzel sticks for arms – which I wish I’d have though of! I’m definitely doing that next time! They’re also fun to add to cookie tins or goodie bags!
I also made some OREO Cookie Ball Reindeer as well as other goodies with OREO Cookie Balls that I’ll be sharing soon as well. I’ll be sure to update here, so make sure to check back! You can also grab this coupon to save 50 cents on your next package of OREO cookies!
